Editorial policy

Scope of the specialised website, content types, sources, corrections, conflicts of interest, use of AI, data and images, licences and dating rules of the science-outreach section.

Last reviewed: 13 September 2026

Thematic scope

The Science outreach archive is a specialised website on information systems, applied data science, applied economics and digital transformation — which includes the economics of information and networks, digital economics and digital law, jurimetrics and artificial intelligence in the public sector, tourism economics, maritime economics and fisheries economics. Pieces outside that scope (such as music, film and culture) live on another site of the author and are not part of this archive.

The declared scope still depends on confirmation by the academic unit regarding its recognised field of knowledge; meanwhile, this archive records editorial activity and does not claim any functional fit.

Content types

Each publication states, in its record, the nature of the piece:

  • Science outreach — explains concepts, methods and results of the field to non-specialist readers, with sources indicated.
  • Academic text — essay or note with a reference apparatus, not peer-reviewed unless stated.
  • Teaching material — content prepared to support courses.
  • Opinion — the author’s personal position, identified as such.
  • Work in progress — preliminary results, with the version date and the notice that they should not be cited as final.

The record also states the review status (author’s editorial review, preprint, peer-reviewed or not peer-reviewed), the knowledge area, the institutional relation (none, a course, a research project or a registered outreach action, or under review), the licence and, where applicable, DOI, ISSN, student co-authorship and a data-ethics statement.

Sources, corrections and updates

Pieces indicate their main sources in the “Further reading” section and the public addresses consulted under “Websites”. Factual errors are corrected in the text itself, with the “last updated” date changed; substantive changes are noted in the text. The first publication date is never changed.

Conflicts of interest

The author is a professor at UFAL and a civil servant at TJAL and maintains independent projects listed on their own page. When a piece deals with a subject in which a relevant personal, functional or financial interest exists, this is declared in the publication record. Where no declaration appears, none was reported for that piece. The pieces do not represent the position of UFAL or TJAL.

Use of artificial intelligence

Artificial-intelligence tools may be used to support drafting, translation into English, proofreading and the generation of illustrative covers. Responsibility for the content, sources and conclusions rests entirely with the author. Research results are not generated by AI. Where AI played a relevant part in preparing a piece, the publication record says so.

Data, anonymisation, image rights and licences

Pieces use public, aggregated or properly anonymised data and do not disclose personal data of students, litigants or third parties. Photographs with identifiable people are published only with documented consent. The author’s own texts and figures are published with all rights reserved; third-party works are cited with source and link.

Dating and continuity

Each publication shows separately its first-publication date and, where applicable, its last-update date. The per-semester archive lists only what was actually published, with canonical URL and real date. Dates are not altered to simulate continuity: the nineteen initial pieces were published on 12 September 2026 and remain recorded as such; weekly periodicity, where it exists, is built from then on, using the official academic calendar as the reference.

Semester report

Each semester a public report (CSV, JSON and HTML) is generated with the title, URL, dates, nature, area, institutional relation, licence and sources of each publication, plus the weeks covered and the gaps, with no score claimed and no personal data. Documentary proof (appointment orders, certificates, registrations) is kept in a private manifest outside the repository.
